Report Reveals Sudan Army's Chemical Weapon Role
A journalistic investigation based on secret documents has revealed that the Sudanese army developed and programmed a covert project to produce chemical weapons using chlorine gas within a six-month period in 2024. The evidence, which includes approximately 150 documents, photos, and videos, indicates secret experiments and the manufacturing of hundreds of ammunition shells containing chlorine gas, intended for use against the Rapid Support Forces in the ongoing conflict in the country. The weapon development process was led by Brigadier Tarek Hussein, with successful tests carried out in July 2024. Nearly 300 chemical munitions were produced, most of which are stored at Merowe Airport, and some were used in an attack on the Jilli oil facility. Despite Sudan’s denials of the allegations and assertions that there is no solid evidence of possessing chemical weapons, the United Nations and international organizations continue their investigations into these claims.
