The events focused on the escalation of military clashes between Yemeni forces and the Houthis on the fronts of Taiz and Hodeidah. The Houthis launched a wide-scale attack that began on Thursday, but it was met with counterattacks from the government forces, which advanced and exchanged control over key sites. The escalation involved artillery and airstrikes, with the Houthis suffering significant human and material losses. Meanwhile, government forces recaptured strategic locations such as the “Wathra Hill,” the “Said Taha” summit, and others. International concerns have been raised over the worsening humanitarian situation due to the field pressure and the increasing number of dead and injured. There have also been aerial military movements by the Yemeni army, which carried out more than 15 strikes on Houthi positions — a development considered unprecedented in the current conflict. These developments confirm that the initiative is gradually returning to the government forces, with ongoing humanitarian support and government measures to prevent the Houthis from taking control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The repercussions of the escalation demand urgent interventions to boost readiness and provide humanitarian rescue for affected families.
