Syria Foils ISIS Plots
Syrian authorities announced that they had foiled a terrorist plot targeting the Homs oil refinery, without providing details or identifying those behind it. In Deir ez-Zor, intelligence and internal security forces arrested a two-person cell affiliated with ISIS. Authorities said the cell was responsible for a series of assassinations, most recently the killing of a Ministry of Defense member near al-Rashid Mosque in the city of al-Mayadin. Weapons and ammunition were seized, while investigations continue to uncover the detainees’ connections ahead of their referral to justice.
